The Emirates News Agency (WAM) was a media partner at the Times Higher Education Forum, "Accelerating Action on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6." The forum was hosted today in Al Ain by UAE University (UAEU) as part of the university's roadmap to the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and beyond. WAM supplied media coverage of the forum's events across multiple platforms and languages as part of the collaboration. It also dedicated a separate studio for doing interviews highlighting the forum's significance and keeping its followers at the heart of the event, showcasing the latest developments, recommendations, and debate sessions. The forum intended to discuss thoughts and perspectives on how colleges might assist create. The forum intended to exchange thoughts and perspectives on how universities may contribute to the development of a strong infrastructure that will aid in the fulfillment of Goal 6 of the SDGs. It also focuses on the role of research institutes and new technologies in tackling water sanitation issues and ensuring equitable distribution of water resources in the midst of increased efforts to avert water shortage.
Furthermore, it investigated the application of new technology to give practical solutions for countries missing these prerequisites, as well as how the higher education sector may play a vital role in responsible investments based on community needs. WAM Director-General Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi reaffirmed WAM's commitment to supporting national efforts to achieve the SDGs and ensure the success of COP28, which the UAE will host in November at Expo City Dubai. He also emphasized the importance of the collaboration in raising community knowledge, particularly about key sectors such as ensuring the availability of clean water and sustainable sewage services for all, as well as their sustainable management, in accordance with the UN's SDGs for 2030. He then praised UAEU for launching its strategy for COP28 to meet national strategic directives and climate change ambitions. Several universities, higher education institutions, scientific research centers, and international organizations, including Times Higher Education and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), participated in the forum, as did leaders and experts from higher education, as well as researchers and media representatives from the country.
