UPES, a private institution with its main campus in Dehradun, is establishing an AI Center of Excellence on its grounds. Through the help of this project, researchers, academics, and students will have the opportunity enabled to create modern technology while confronting crucial problems in business and society.
The university has made substantial investments in the creation of an advanced Center of Expertise in AI and Data Sciences, that will be focused on transdisciplinary research, consultancy, and teaching. The Research Center will be furnished with a group of elite servers, GPUs, and TPUs (Transaction Processing Units). In accordance with a formal announcement, it will offer world-class infrastructure to support the concurrent work of more than 50 researchers.
The Center of Excellence will provide multidisciplinary graduate and research-level studies in Data Sciences and AI plus fostering research. Additionally, it seeks at advancing the use of these innovations in sectors including BFSI, healthcare, manufacturing, and defense. The center has a solid research focus and intends on using internal expertise and its vast corpus of information for consultancy services, ongoing education, and management development initiatives in various fields.
“In the recent past, especially with the availability of high-end hardware, AI has evolved into one of the most impactful technologies with huge implications in multiple sectors that contribute to the global economy. Through this Center of Excellence, we aim to contribute to not only fundamental research in AI and related fields, but also work on their application, provide hands-on experience to students, and collaborate with governments and industry. We want to contribute significantly to the body of knowledge in AI, and evangelize its adoption in academia, government and industry”, Ravi S Iyer, dean, School of Computer Science, UPES, stated.
