The inaugural USTC 'Kezhi Cup' Mind Sports Game concludes successfully

  • The inaugural "Kezhi Cup" Mind Sports Game took place at the advanced campus of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), organized by the School of Cyber Science and Technology. The competition was open to all members of the USTC community, including faculty and staff, with the goal of broadening perspectives, enhancing university life, and fostering holistic development among participants. The event featured four games: Chinese chess (Xiang qi), Gomoku, Rubik's Cube, and the card game Guandan. During the Chinese chess match, participants were deeply engrossed in strategic thinking, creating a remarkably quiet atmosphere on the field. The competitors showcased their superb chess skills, providing spectators with an exciting display of the game. Following several thrilling rounds, the top four players, determined by total scores, were ZHANG Yiming, LI Zheyu, YING Shuchang, YANG Jianyu, and ZHANG Zunmin (tied for fourth place).

    Gomoku stands as a puzzle activity that holds concealed intricacies, uncovering the distinctive strategies and overall tactical arrangements employed by players. Following a spirited competition, ZHONG Zichen, LI Zhenhao, FENG Yuanyuan, and WANG Xingyu emerged as the victors. The Rubik's Cube competition unfolded with intense fervor, as players showcased quick and agile maneuvers, seizing every moment to distinguish themselves, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats. After five rounds of time trials, the top four performers in the Rubik's Cube category were KANG Zechao, WANG Yihuan, JIANG Tao, and LV Haoche. Guandan Card, a popular poker game, requires teamwork, challenging both individual abilities and collaborative skills within a team. Ultimately, four pairs, CHEN Lin and LU Tianxiang, LI Xue and TANG Qi, RUAN Huanyu and LIU Xiang, ZHANG Yuhang and WANG Long, outshone others to claim victory.

    The preparation and execution of the "Kezhi Cup" garnered enthusiastic support from both USTC staff and students, resulting in a well-attended event. Through the collaborative endeavors of the staff, teachers, and participating students, the competition achieved resounding success. The Mind Sports Game exemplified the competitive spirit of the USTC community, instilling a sense of passion, youthfulness, and tenacity among the participants for the future.
