The Labour Fund-Tamkeen took part in the second edition of the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The theme for the forum was 'Investing in a Rapidly Transforming Region'. Government officials, business leaders, and executives from around the world attended the forum.
Tamkeen, at this event, a national programme was announced with Amazon Web Services (AWS) about focusing on the development and advancement of skills of talent in Bahrain in Artificial Intelligence.
On this occasion, Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, emphasised Tamkeen’s commitment to enhancing programmes and initiatives aimed at training and developing national talent in a number of domains, especially those utilising the latest tech advancements, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the labour market. These efforts further reinforce Bahrain’s position as a global innovation hub.
The training programme aims to equip Bahraini nationals to become professional AI generalists, AI specialists, and AI startup founders, in addition to knowledge exchange on AWS’s best practices in cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Through this initiative, Tamkeen and AWS will provide the opportunity for Bahrainis to obtain three main qualifications related to generative artificial intelligence, implementing machine learning technologies in production and operations, and utilising technology to address various business challenges.
This is in aligns with Tamkeen's strategic priorities for 2024, which will be on economic impact and support to the private sector. The program has three strategic pillars: enhance economic participation through opening new employment opportunities to new entrants, further developing career progression opportunities in the Bahraini workforce, and advancing the private sector through business development and increasing productivity and adoption of technology.
