Sultan bin Ahmed Inaugurates the 16th Scientific Research Forum at UOS

  • Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), inaugurated the Annual Scientific Research Forum at the University of Sharjah. The event, themed "Impactful Research for the Community," was held in Al Razi Hall at the Medical and Health Campus. 

    The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and recitations from the Holy Quran. Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Sultan for attending and supporting the forum. He praised Sheikh Sultan's continuous backing of the university's efforts to enhance its reputation on local, regional, and international levels.

    Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi highlighted the university's commitment to fostering scientific research and providing an environment that nurtures creativity and innovation among faculty and students. He emphasized the university's strong connections to scientific research, the growth of its programs, and its extensive academic partnerships worldwide, which significantly contribute to societal service and the advancement of human knowledge. The dedicated efforts of researchers have led to significant advancements in developing innovative tools and technologies that positively impact people's lives and contribute to societal progress.

    Dr. Hamid Majoul shared various statistics and achievements resulting from the university's development plans. He noted that the university's focus on scientific research began in 2014, leading to the establishment of research institutes, centres of excellence, and administrative systems. He pointed out that the 2023/2024 academic year has seen significant growth in the number of research groups, now totalling 84. 

    Additionally, the university has established eight centres of excellence. The Graduate Studies College offers a wide range of 70 programs, including 50 master's programs, 17 doctoral programs, and three postgraduate diploma programs, with a total enrollment of 3,535 students. Through these initiatives, the University of Sharjah has made considerable strides in scientific research and education, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and societal well-being.
