The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2023 occurred in Hong Kong in december, hosted by the Hong Kong Computer Society. The Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) entered four exceptional software development projects across three student categories, resulting in two projects receiving Merit Awards. FITIS organizes the annual 'Young Computer Scientist' competition, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. This year, over 1,400 software development projects were submitted by students from both public and private schools. In partnership with the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), the Ministry of Education and FITIS shortlisted 410 projects for the initial round, eventually narrowing down to 31 projects for the final round.
A distinguished panel of judges, consisting of experts from academia and industry professionals, selected four exceptional projects for submission to APICTA. At the Infotel Exhibition 2023, APICTA nominees were acknowledged by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, accompanied by Dr. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education, and Kanaka Herath, State Minister of Technology, for their remarkable accomplishments. The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance is a collaborative network of ICT communities nominated by member economies in the region. Its annual awards program aims to recognize innovative indigenous ICT products, solutions, services, and applications. Additionally, APICTA seeks to promote the development and market deployment of ICT products and solutions globally.
