Two Saudi high school students from Al-Ahsa, Mujtaba Hussein Salem and Majed Abdullah Al-Majed, clinched the top spot at the World Robot Olympiad's final in Panama. They emerged victorious in the Virtual Robot Challenges category, surpassing competitors from various nations. Additionally, elementary students Fatima Ali Al-Rashid and Fatima Akil Salem secured the fifth position in the Future Innovators category. The international olympiad, which took place from November 7-9, witnessed participation from numerous students across different age groups, competing in diverse categories.
Hamad bin Muhammed Al-Issa, the head of Al-Ahsa Education, hailed the Saudi students' achievement as a significant milestone. He noted that numerous teams from Al-Ahsa have excelled in representing the Kingdom on the global stage. Al-Issa emphasized that not only are the students inclined toward the realm of artificial intelligence, but they also hold a leading position globally in this domain, marking a victory for the Kingdom and its people.
In expressing gratitude to dedicated educators and school principals who have nurtured students' potential across various fields, Al-Issa wished them blessings and success, highlighting that such accomplishments stem from dedicated efforts and innovative students who confront challenges fearlessly. According to student-instructor Khaled Al-Massoud, the students' performance stands as a noteworthy achievement for the country. The two winners credited the Kingdom's support as instrumental in their victory. They mentioned that rigorous training supervised by Al-Massoud played a pivotal role in enabling them to achieve top positions in the Olympiad.
