SAU, Chinese Universities Set Up International Lab

  • Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam is embarking on a groundbreaking partnership with a consortium of Chinese universities to establish an international joint laboratory focusing on stem cell research in both animals and plants. This collaboration signifies a significant milestone in research and educational exchange between the two institutions.

    The agreement encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including the exchange of expertise in research and teaching, as well as the sharing of standardized seeds for crops, vegetables, and fruits. Notably, SAU has solidified partnerships with esteemed Chinese institutions, such as Northwestern A&F University, Yangling.

    The ceremony, held in the university's senate hall, saw key figures from both sides coming together to exchange crucial documents. Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri, alongside representatives from SAU and Chinese institutions, highlighted the importance of the collaboration for Pakistan, especially for the province of Sindh.

    The collaboration aims to facilitate student exchange programs, support faculty development, and promote the exchange of agricultural resources, including crop seeds and animal breeds. Additionally, plans are in place to establish a Sino Park Research Center at SAU and to enhance agricultural biotechnological resources.

    Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri expressed optimism about the agreement, emphasizing its potential to transfer modern agricultural technology and promote sustainable practices in agriculture and veterinary sciences. He underscored the importance of reducing the reliance on chemical treatments in plant cultivation.

    The ceremony was attended by a prominent Chinese delegation, along with faculty members and officials from SAU. The collaboration signifies a step forward in fostering international cooperation in agricultural research and education, with the shared goal of advancing scientific knowledge and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
