SANS Muscat June 2024 boosts Oman's Cyber Defenses

  • The SANS Institute, renowned globally for its cybersecurity training and certification, announces SANS Muscat June 2024, scheduled from June 1 to June 6 at the Kempinski Hotel in Muscat. This training initiative aims to empower cybersecurity professionals with essential skills to safeguard organizations against present and emerging cyber threats across industrial control systems, on-premise, and cloud environments.

Oman ranks third in the Arab world and 21st worldwide out of 193 countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index, indicating its significant commitment to cybersecurity. The Sultanate is poised for substantial growth in its cybersecurity market, projected to reach $58 million by 2025. This growth is fueled by the expansion of Internet of Things (IoT) services and the escalating frequency of cyberattacks targeting critical sectors like finance and healthcare, which are increasingly digitizing their operations and data.

Ned Baltagi, Managing Director for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey at SANS Institute, underscores Oman's dedication to enhancing its cybersecurity framework, evident in its high ranking and projected market expansion. By prioritizing the security of digital services and safeguarding critical sectors from cyber threats, Oman positions itself as a regional and global leader in cybersecurity.

Initiatives such as SANS Muscat June 2024 and efforts by the Oman National CERT aim to educate both public and private sectors on best cybersecurity practices. This not only bolsters Oman’s cybersecurity readiness but also aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, emphasizing cybersecurity as integral to economic diversification and financial stability.

SANS Muscat June 2024 offers two comprehensive courses delivered through in-person training and simultaneous live online sessions: the updated SEC401: Security Essentials - Network, Endpoint, and Cloud; and ICS410: ICS/SCADA Security Essentials. This initiative aims to equip professionals with the requisite knowledge and skills to effectively counter cybersecurity threats in today’s evolving digital landscape.
