RMIT Collaborates with Indonesian Government to Boost Cyber Safety Skills

  • RMIT University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infinite Learning, and Innova8 to deliver cyber safety and resilience training for the country's workforce.

RMIT will provide a customized cybersecurity program designed to equip professionals with the skills needed to safeguard networks and tackle wider security issues. This initiative aims to support the region's transition to a modern digital economy and promote the adoption of best practices in cybersecurity.

This collaboration builds on RMIT’s decades-long partnerships in the region, highlighting our expanded presence in the Asia-Pacific and ongoing focus on addressing critical workforce skills gaps.

The MoU was signed during a visit to Indonesia by Mish Eastman, RMIT Deputy Vice-Chancellor Vocational Education and Vice-President, and Saskia Loer Hansen, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President International and Engagement.

Eastman said the partnership highlights RMIT’s ongoing commitment to offering in-demand, relevant training offshore and engaging in innovative leadership dialogues with key partners in Indonesia.

“By leveraging RMIT’s expertise, we are creating a tailored solution to enhance workforce productivity and cyber resilience in the Southeast Asia region”, said Eastman.

“We are opening the world of cyber security to industry professionals, teaching them essential principles to protect networks and understand its broader impact”.

Saskia Loer Hansen, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President International and Engagement, added that this partnership marks an exciting step in educating local talent to support the cyber resilience of the digital sector.

“RMIT is partnering across Southeast Asia to respond to workforce needs to deliver industry connected and innovative learning solutions and experiences”.

This new MoU strengthens the long-standing relationship between our institutions, furthering initiatives like the delivery of cybersecurity short courses at Nongsa Digital Park in Indonesia, which was part of a strategic partnership established in 2021.
