  • Prime Minister Hun Manet unveiled the Cambodian Cyber University Network (CCUN) at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in Phnom Penh. This event represents a notable step forward for Cambodia's higher education sector, emphasizing a significant effort to incorporate digital technology into educational institutions.

The CCUN seeks to promote collaboration among Cambodian universities by sharing infrastructure and academic resources. It aims to facilitate the transfer of study credits and provide open educational resources to scholars both locally and internationally. Through technological integration, this network is anticipated to improve the accessibility and quality of higher education.

At the inauguration, Prime Minister Hun Manet stressed the crucial role of technology and ICT skills in today's global context. He called on all CCUN member institutions to enhance collaboration, especially in sharing data center resources, to address financial challenges encountered by certain universities.

Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron elaborated on the CCUN, highlighting its composition of 12 public and private higher education institutions. These institutions have collectively designed educational content for 69 subjects within 18 specialized undergraduate programs, benefiting more than 5,000 students to date.

The CCUN member institutions encompass a diverse range of universities, including the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, the Royal University of Phnom Penh, National University of Battambang, Svay Rieng University, Heng Samrin-Thbong Khmum University, Royal University of Agriculture, National University of Management, Chea Sim Kamchay Mear University, University of Kratie, Battambang Institute of Pedagogy, Phnom Penh International University, and Angkor University. This initiative forms a key part of Cambodia's broader strategy to harness digital technologies for educational and economic advancement, ensuring that the workforce is well-prepared for the demands of the digital era.
