The creation of the IIT Delhi campus in the UAE was a joint vision of the leadership of both countries, aiming to spur collaborations in cutting-edge technology, research, and innovation.
The first academic program, a Master's in Energy Transition and Sustainability, began in January 2024. An agreement to establish IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi in the UAE was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during PM Modi's visit to Abu Dhabi on July 15, 2023. The interim campus of IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi was set up, and the inaugural Master's course in Energy Transition and Sustainability commenced on January 29, 2024.
There are ongoing preparations to launch undergraduate and additional programs beginning September 2024. In November 2023, the Education Minister, during his visit to the UAE, endorsed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) encompassing diverse facets of education and skill development. These endeavors are geared towards nurturing a skilled workforce equipped to address the challenges of the 21st century.
