OMOTEC Teams Shine at FIRST Tech Challenge Asia Pacific Open Championship

  • OMOTEC, a prominent figure in technical education, is thrilled to announce the outstanding performance of its teams at the FTC Asia Pacific Open Championship (APOC) 2024 in Australia. The teams, Mad Engineers and GForce have achieved impressive results, showcasing OMOTEC’s commitment to excellence in robotics and STEM education. This success was achieved under the guidance of mentors Avneet Singh and Gaurav Berwal and student mentors Siddharth Jain and Jayveer Kochhar.

The teams constructed robots weighing 20 kg each, with dimensions of 18x18x18 inches, to compete in the International Game Challenge known as CENTERSTAGE. Team Mad Engineers, led by Captain Divya and comprising members Vivaan, Aryan, Siddharth, Jahaan, Kavish, Ishaan, Aarav, and Amritraj, secured two prestigious awards: the INSPIRE Award Rank 2, recognizing the best role model design, and the THINK Award. Team GForce, guided by Captain Rahi and including members Rithvik, Viivaan Patel, Drish, Akshaya, Hriday, Suramrit, Neev, Rahi, and Anagha, earned three awards: the Judges’ Choice Award, the Promote Award, and the Winning Finalist Alliance Award. Their achievements were noted for their outstanding robot performance in the game challenge and their application of STEM knowledge in research and solving real-world problems.

An essential aspect of the judging criteria at FTC APOC was the CSR initiatives undertaken by the teams. The Mad Engineers mentored Signal Stars, a group of talented students from Signal Shala in Thane, Maharashtra, focused on educating children from denotified tribes. Team GForce has supported Team Dharavi Dynamites for the past five years, offering coding and AI skills training along with financial assistance, equipping them with the skills needed for future projects and bot creation. Both the Mad Engineers and Team GForce have successfully raised funds to establish STEM Labs, promoting hands-on learning and community impact through technology. Signal Stars and Dharavi Dynamites have also competed in the FTC Nationals in India, where winning teams are selected to represent the country in international finals. This exposure to STEM not only benefits the individual teams but also inspires a shift in their communities toward future career opportunities. OMOTEC is committed to supporting these initiatives, reinforcing its dedication to advancing educational opportunities and technology for underprivileged communities.

Reetu Jain and Shekhar Jain, Co-founders of OMOTEC, expressed their pride saying, “At OMOTEC, we strive to provide our students with the highest levels of technology education. Through hands-on exposure to robotic construction, coding, machine learning, and more, our students gain invaluable skills and insights. Competing against teams from the US, Australia, and other tech-advanced countries is incredibly valuable for our students. This international exposure broadens their horizons, fuels their ambition, and allows them to explore and experiment. We guide them in making informed and progressive career choices in the ever-evolving world of technology”.

Founded in 2016 by Shekhar Avinash Jain and Reetu Shekhar Jain, OMOTEC is a vibrant and innovative research lab dedicated to delivering STEAM education to students of all ages. The curriculum at OMOTEC emphasizes the integration of real-world applications into learning. Their classes blend educational and hands-on experiences designed to ignite creativity and prepare students for a technology-driven future.
