MoE join hands with the Sports Association to enhance sports education: Oman

  • The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Omani School Sports Association, has entered into a comprehensive cooperation program with the Oman Football Federation. This ambitious project aims to advance sports development for students, signifying a noteworthy effort in connecting education and sports in the Sultanate. The program, endorsed by H E Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary for Education and Chairman of Omani School Sports Association, and Sheikh Salem bin Said al Wahaibi, Chairman of Oman Football Association, delineates a set of focused initiatives.

    The initiatives encompass the organization of football tournaments for school students, fostering technical and administrative collaboration, and notably, advocating for women's football through a dedicated girls' football festival for schools. This collaboration underscores the commitment of the Omani School Sports Association to cultivate football talent in schools, providing enhanced opportunities for both male and female students. Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the program prioritizes empowerment through rehabilitation and training initiatives for sports teachers. Underlining the comprehensiveness of the agreement, H E Ambosaidi emphasized its focus on tournaments and the progression of football, including girls' football. He highlighted that the partnership with the Oman Football Association demonstrates the sultanate's dedication to nurturing school sports and sports in general.

    Expressing gratitude for the collaboration, Sheikh Wahaibi characterized the program as a joint mission aligned with the aspirations of both entities. He anticipates that the partnership will concentrate on identifying, training, and honing promising talents from schools, with the goal of fostering a new generation of players capable of achieving desired results for clubs and national teams. Sheikh Wahaibi emphasized the shared visions and strategic objectives that paved the way for this collaboration, expressing optimism about the program's expansion and its role in creating a stimulating environment for young talent. He views this partnership as a crucial step following the initiation of the Talented Centres project, expected to yield quality outcomes. Overall, the collaboration represents a significant advancement in the development of student sports in Oman.
