Kyushu-Okinawa & Taiwan Universities Form International Pact

  • KOOU, an assembly of 11 national university corporations in the Kyushu-Okinawa region, and UAAT, a platform representing Taiwanese universities, have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement was celebrated during the "KOOU-UAAT Forum on Higher Education," where both entities showcased their initiatives and delivered keynote speeches to set the tone for future exchanges. The event also included a networking reception to foster connections.

    Established in March 2023, KOOU aims to enhance research capabilities among its member institutions. By partnering with UAAT, KOOU seeks to facilitate international research, education, and talent development, harnessing the strengths of universities in the Kyushu-Okinawa region.

    The collaboration outlines specific areas for joint activities, focusing on research, education, and talent cultivation. By addressing six identified fields, the agreement aims to foster comprehensive cooperation between Taiwan and the Kyushu-Okinawa region.

    This partnership signifies a significant step towards strengthening ties between Taiwan, Kyushu, and Okinawa, emphasizing a commitment to international collaboration and excellence in research and education. By transcending geographical boundaries, both parties aspire to establish a novel model of international cooperation, leveraging collective intellect and resources to address global challenges and promote sustainable development.
