Indonesia's Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid and Nanning City official Nong Shengwen have discussed opportunities for cooperation in digital transformation, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture and the development of smart cities.
"Cooperation in the digital infrastructure between Indonesia and China is the largest among cooperation with other countries. This has supported connectivity to remote areas of Indonesia through 4G and 5G technology", Hafid noted during the meeting.
The Indonesian side expressed a keen interest in expanding cooperation with Nanning, particularly in AI, noting the city's success in creating a pioneering AI-driven smart city center. Hafid emphasized Indonesia’s goal of developing nine million highly skilled digital talents in AI by 2030, underscoring the country's openness to collaboration with various countries, including China, to achieve this target.
Nong Shengwen shared that Nanning has extensive experience in building smart cities and a well-established ecosystem of digital talent and startups, which could serve as a model for similar developments in Indonesia. He also expressed support for further cooperation in technological innovation and assured that Nanning would fully support Indonesian companies looking to collaborate with the city.
Nong concluded by stating that both sides hope to establish a center for AI cooperation and innovation between China and ASEAN in Indonesia.
