Google Cloud Empowers Indonesian Students with the Launch of Tech Skills Program

  • Google Cloud, in partnership with Indonesia's Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kemenkominfo), has introduced the Google Cloud Career Launchpad initiative. This program is designed to equip industry newcomers with the essential cloud skills required for entry-level positions in today's tech-driven job market.

The initiative aims to support 8,500 students over the next year, with plans to expand its reach to more students in both urban and rural areas. The initial phase will involve 21 higher education partners from Kemenkominfo, providing students with free access to programs and courses that can lead to industry-recognized Google Cloud Certificates and skills badges in fields like generative AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering.

Nezar Patria, Vice Minister of Communications and Informatics, emphasized the importance of a skilled cloud workforce for Indonesia’s digital transformation. He stated, "A skilled cloud workforce is needed to accelerate and sustain Indonesia's digital transformation. This is why we’re partnering with Google Cloud on its Cloud Career Launchpad, an initiative that enables students at higher education institutions to earn nationally-recognized Google Cloud skills credentials at no cost, opening doors to jobs in AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering".

Students who complete the programs can convert their learning achievements into Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) e-certificates, which can be verified in real-time. These e-certificates will provide access to Kemenkominfo’s Diploy (Digital Employment) platform, enabling them to apply for relevant job and internship opportunities. The initiatives are scheduled to launch in September 2024, with students already able to register their early interest through Kemenkominfo’s DTS platform.
