England based Ed-tech company to instruct 23,000 tutors in UAE

  • Evidence-Based Education (EBE) situated in Sunderland, has secured a contract from the Emirates Schools Establishment to conduct training for 23,000 teachers in the UAE over the next two years. As part of the agreement, EBE will translate its widely adopted Great Teaching Toolkit into Arabic, offering teachers personalized development paths to enhance sustainable school and learning outcomes. The toolkit, currently utilized by over 14,000 teachers globally, supports long-term improvements in teaching and learning by providing access to a range of evidence-based courses and resources, along with fostering coaching and collaboration across teams and schools.

Jack Deverson, Director of Evidence-Based Education, expressed excitement about the significant contract win, anticipating a 50 percent increase in revenue over the next two years. The contract, in collaboration with the Emirates Schools Establishment, has not only facilitated the company's growth but has also led to the creation of two new positions. Deverson stated the company's enthusiasm for extending its school improvement initiatives to the UAE, providing teachers with world-class professional development, streamlining school processes, and enhancing teaching and learning. The EBE's Model for Great Teaching, a compilation of the most effective evidence on classroom practices and a curriculum for teachers' professional development, has been translated into various languages and is widely used globally by schools, universities, and faculties seeking insights into quality teaching.

Established as a pivotal element in the UAE's commitment to transforming the public education sector, the Emirates Schools Establishment focuses on implementing policies, strategies, and standards for government schools and nurseries. Since its inception in 2015, Evidence-Based Education (EBE) has experienced steady growth, currently employing 17 individuals. Since relocating to Grange Crescent in Sunderland city center in 2019, the company has received support from Sunderland City Council's Business Investment Team. Jack Deverson remarked, "Sunderland serves as an excellent headquarters for our hybrid team, and the council has provided outstanding support since our relocation to the city, facilitating our continuous expansion".
