Education to Entrepreneurship: Meta collaborates with the government to educate and train students

  • Meta has established a three-year cooperation with the Ministries of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in India to empower students, educators, and entrepreneurs. Meta signed three Letters of Intent as part of the collaboration (LoI). These were with the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), which promotes entrepreneurship and skill development in India through training, consulting, and research; the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body for technical education; and the Department of Higher Education and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Dharmendra Pradhan, federal minister for education, skill development, and entrepreneurship, stated that the effort advances Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aim of creating India the world's talent capital. "The 'Education to Entrepreneurship' collaboration is a game changer that will bring Digital Skilling to the masses." This will enhance our talent pool's capabilities, seamlessly integrate students, youth, workforce, and micro-entrepreneurs with future technology, and turn our Amrit Peedhi into new-age problem solvers and entrepreneurs," Pradhan added. 

    "Led by the NEP tenets, META's collaborations with NIESBUD, CBSE, and AICTE will catalyze unlimited opportunities for providing our population with crucial digital skills and enabling micro entrepreneurs and small companies," he said. Meanwhile, Information Technology Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that the government's priority is to prepare our youth and workforce for these rapidly changing times, providing them with "the skills to succeed and play important roles in the evolving landscape of technology and the global economy." "Although digital skills represent skilling and entrepreneurship in the innovation ecosystem, they also offer a bridge between lakhs of tiny rural, micro, and self-employed entrepreneurs, allowing them to expand, grow, and flourish," he said.

    Meta will provide digital marketing skills to one million entrepreneurs over the next three years as part of a cooperation with NIESBUD. Moreover, businesses in seven regional languages will be schooled in digital marketing techniques utilizing Various platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, and 50 impact stories from regional languages will be selected. The initiative's implementation partners will be the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). "This collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is yet another testament of our long-term commitment to partnering with the government to advance India's agenda of digital inclusion, skilling, and growth, and aligns with our values of building communities and bringing the world together," said Sandhya Devanathan, vice president, Meta in India.
