Campus X Teams with SenseTime for Pioneering AI Education in Hong Kong

  • Campus X, a STEAM education institution founded by the team behind local robotics company Rice Robotics, has announced a partnership with Magic Lab, the education division of the prominent AI software company SenseTime. Together, they are launching "Sense AI," an innovative AI education program tailored for students in Hong Kong.

In a statement, the duo revealed that the program consists of six comprehensive modules spread across 24 lessons, covering everything from fundamental AI principles to advanced techniques. The program is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of AI, equipping them to navigate the new era of artificial intelligence and address the challenges of the modern world.

According to the statement, the approach can help foster students’ interest in technology and familiarize them with the definition and applications of AI, and foundational concepts such as basic image recognition, object detection, and facial authentication. Participants can gain introductory coding experience through interactive games and exercises. Through hands-on operations and programming exercises, it aims to cultivate students’ logical and innovative thinking.

Students will also be taught how to use Python for image processing and AI application development. The partnership between Campus X and SenseTime is set to provide students with exceptional AI education, according to the statement. Looking ahead, both parties plan to leverage their combined expertise to further accelerate the growth of Hong Kong’s tech talent pool and reinforce the city's standing as a global innovation hub.

Tylor Ng, General Manager of Campus X, said they are committed to breaking the traditional education norm, which often limits the creative young mind. According to him, their courses emphasize hands-on practice, practical learning, as they believe this is the most effective approach. He also noted as engineers, they integrate extensive industry experience into their teaching, ensuring the content is the most up-to-date and highly practical.

Lynn Dai, Vice President of SenseTime’s Large Model Business Unit and Dean of the SenseTime Education Research Institute, expressed that their collaboration with Campus X to introduce the AI course in Hong Kong reflects their dedication to nurturing tech talent in the city. As AI continues to play a growing role in our daily lives, he emphasized the importance of equipping young people with the necessary knowledge to become the next generation of innovators.

Campus X, a Hong Kong-based education institution, has been focused on robotics, AI and STEAM education to prepare young students for the rapidly evolving technological environment. It has collaborated with many local primary and secondary schools to offer hands-on robotic experiences, allowing students to learn outside the classroom. It is noted a renowned international school in Hong Kong has included Campus X courses into its regular school curriculum this year.

SenseTime founded Magic Lab with the goal of advancing AI education for K-12 students. Drawing on SenseTime’s extensive expertise and experience in artificial intelligence, Magic Lab provides a wide range of programs designed to inspire the next generation's enthusiasm for transformative technology. Previously, Magic Lab introduced its AI courses, which combine theoretical and practical modules, to markets including Mainland China and Singapore.

Through various formats such as classroom lessons, experiential workshops, and internships, students gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies by creating their own AI products. The curriculum offers an in-depth exploration of machine intelligence, ensuring students are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a tech-driven future.
