The founding history of Joseph Education University is a remarkable story of passion, determination, and innovation. Determined by a desire to provide educational opportunities, even in a politically complex environment, the university was established with just $1,000 in capital. What started in a small apartment quickly became a revolutionary distance education system.

JEU’s unique approach to education involves sending textbooks and question papers to students, who answer questions every two months. This method ensures that learning is accessible to every household in Myanmar, eliminating the need for students to travel to a physical campus. The curriculum initially focused on a Certificate in Catholic Theology; a subject previously unavailable to laypeople in Myanmar.

This marked the birth of JEU as the first Catholic University in Myanmar to offer theology programs to ordinary citizens, regardless of their faith.

The university comprises four courses: Theology, Business Administration, Accounting & Finance, and Education. What distinguishes JEU from other institutions is its commitment to delivering education primarily in the local language to ensure maximum absorption of knowledge.

Some professors, including visiting professors, have extensive teaching experience, while others are experienced professionals from various sectors.
