Established in 1952, Hubei University of Technology is a multidisciplinary university with a focus on engineering and the coordinated development of ten major disciplines, including economics, law, education, literature, science, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary studies. The university has been recognized as a ‘Double First-Class’ construction university in Hubei Province, and is part of the national ‘Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China’. Additionally, it is known for its exemplary graduate employment rates, and is a national demonstration university for innovating and reforming entrepreneurship education. Furthermore, it is a national intellectual property pilot university and a national "pilot unit for granting scientific research personnel ownership or long-term use rights of scientific and technological achievements". It was also among the first national modern industrial college construction units and identified as a national advanced civilized campus school.

Spread across over 1,600 acres with a building area of 1.1 million square meters, the university has comprehensive facilities, including advanced laboratories, a secure campus network, and modern student apartments. The library spans 45,800 square meters and is highly regarded in Hubei Province. With 18 teaching units and four modern industry colleges, the school enrolls students from across the country. It currently has 20,000+ full-time undergraduate students, 7,400+ doctoral and master's students, and 800+ international students. The faculty comprises 1,500+ full-time teachers, including over 800 with senior professional titles and renowned part-time professors.

The university offers 57 undergraduate majors including national first-class professional construction sites, national characteristic majors, and Ministry of Education's ‘Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program’. It has 3 national-level high-quality video open courses and various national and provincial-level first-class courses. The university has achieved excellent results in various competitions and cultural and sports activities and has strong research capabilities with key laboratories, research centers, and innovation centers.

The school prioritizes open education and international cooperation, with partnerships in over 50 countries and more than 180 universities and research institutions. It offers a wide range of international courses and collaborates with universities worldwide to cultivate high-level talent. Additionally, the school has received approval to establish various innovation and cooperation bases and employs over 50 foreign experts, including 10 foreign academicians.

Especially, when it comes to specialized trade and business focused education, Hubei University of Technology’s The School of Economics and Management is the one and its history can be track back to 1985. The School of Economics and Management, Hubei University of Technology was established in 2015 through the merger of two different schools: the former School of Management and the former School of Economics, Politics and Law.

The school includes eight departments, including department of International Trade, Department of Finance, Department of Energy Economics, Department of Marketing and E-commerce, Department of Human Resources, Department of Accounting, Department of Information Management and Department of Public Administration. The school has 9 undergraduate programs, including Marketing, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Big Data Management and Application, E-commerce, Administration, Finance, International Economics and Trade, Energy Economics;and 2 composite majors, Mathematical Finance and International Trade English; 3 first-level master degree programs in Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering, and Applied Economics; 5 professional master degree programs in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), Accounting (MPAcc), International Business (MIB) and Finance (MF).

The school is focused on the "green industry" with an emphasis on teaching, scientific research, and education. It aims to cultivate senior applied talents in economics and management with a strong theoretical foundation, practical abilities, and an innovative spirit to serve the society and local economy. "Applied Economics" and "Enterprise Management" are key disciplines in Hubei Province. The discipline of Business Administration is in the top 50 percent in the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and Business Administration and Applied Economics are also in the top 50 percent in Shanghai's "Soft subjects" in China. Several majors and courses have been approved as national first-class programs and provincial excellent courses. The Ministry of Education has approved 48 industry-university cooperative education projects. The School of Economics and Management has won the honorary title of "Best Business School integrating Industry and Education in China". The school also has various research centers and international collaboration platforms, as well as university-level research platforms in the Greater Bay Area.

The school has over 180 faculty members, including 37 professors and 58 associate professors, with more than 70% of them holding doctoral degrees. They have introduced high-level talents from well-known universities and have a well-structured teaching and research team with influence at home and abroad. In the past four years, the school has significantly improved its educational strength and core competitiveness, securing numerous research projects, teaching awards, and publishing a considerable number of articles annually with a total research fund of 31 million yuan.
