The Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) received institutional accreditation from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to offer Postgraduate programmes at Qualifications Framework Level 6. This will be an opening door for two new degree offerings - a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and a Master's Degree in Education - both programmes to be offered from the 2025/26 academic year.
YCCECE continues to cement its 92 years of excellence in education as the first private institution in Hong Kong to implement these postgraduate programs. The College's new offerings will advance professional development among educators and further its mission to promote early childhood education across Hong Kong and further afield.
In recognition of their dedication to this proud milestone, the Board of Governors extends its sincere thanks to every member of the YCCECE community; they especially wish to thank President Professor Allan H.K. Yuen for all his leadership and labor. Since joining the College in 2019, Professor Yuen has led the College in academic development, research, and community outreach. His leadership has positioned YCCECE at the top amongst the early childhood education leaders. Professor Yuen will retire at the end of the month.
The YCCECE is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Kerry Lee as its next President and Chair Professor of Child Development as the College transitions to new leadership. Professor Lee begins his new positions at the beginning of November 2024, after many years at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), where he has held multiple roles as the Director of the Centre for Educational and Development Sciences and Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education.
Chairlady of the Board of Governors Dr. Betty Chan Po-king said, "We are thrilled to welcome Chair Professor Kerry Lee to our Yew Chung family. His depth of experience and expertise will enable us to build on the strong foundations laid by President Yuen and catapult our College to new heights".
Professor Lee graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Sydney and received his doctorate at Macquarie University. He is one of the world's leading cognitive developmental psychologists, ranked among the world's top 2% most cited scientists.
