Visang Offers 'Klass' Language Learning Platform to Vietnamese Universities

  • 'Klass', a digital platform for learning Korean developed by South Korea's Visang Education, has been embraced by 24 Vietnamese higher education institutions offering Korean language courses. In Vietnam, there are at least 46 colleges and universities that provide programs for learning the Korean language.

Vietnam demonstrates a remarkable demand for the Korean language. By June 2023, the enrollment of Vietnamese students at South Korea's state-run Korean language institute, 'King Sejong', soared to 18,000, marking the highest figure among 85 nations. Data from Hanoi University in Vietnam reveals that its Korean language department achieved the highest admission score among all 25 majors for both 2023 and 2024.

Klass (Korean Language Smart Solution) integrates artificial intelligence technology to aid students in improving their Korean language skills. Utilizing a touch screen and a smartpad, individuals can attend classes without the need for a human instructor. The platform provides access to quizzes and video recordings.

Visang has announced that Klass is currently being utilized by 24 Vietnamese higher education institutions offering Korean language programs. In the first quarter of 2024, the educational technology company forged partnerships with five additional universities to integrate the solution: Thai Nguyen University of Sciences, CMC University, Dai Nam University, the University of Danang, and FPT University. Visang stated that the implementation of this smart solution addresses the shortage of instructors. Furthermore, Visang aims to expand its educational services for Vietnamese elementary, middle, and high school students while also planning to assist Vietnamese workers in South Korea in enhancing their Korean language proficiency.

The utilization of educational technology (edtech) is rapidly increasing in South Korea. In 2011, the South Korean Ministry of Education initiated the integration of technology into education by providing tablet PCs to schools located in remote rural regions. The ministry has also revealed its plan to introduce AI digital textbooks, commencing in 2025. According to data from the domestic mobile carrier KT, the global edtech market, which was valued at $183 billion in 2019, is projected to reach $404 billion by 2025.
