Vantage Foundation & Teach For Malaysia to Educate Indigenous Children

  • The Vantage Foundation is excited to announce a new partnership with Teach For Malaysia (TFM) to empower the indigenous Orang Asli communities through education. This collaboration aligns with Vantage Foundation’s mission to highlight and address the often overlooked challenges faced by marginalized communities globally.

The Vantage Foundation will provide strategic support to TFM’s initiatives, which focus on overcoming the educational obstacles faced by Orang Asli students. The goal is to raise awareness and empower these students to achieve their full potential.

Steven Xie, Executive Director of Vantage Foundation, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, "Our partnership with Teach For Malaysia underscores our dedication to inclusive education and the empowerment of marginalized communities, especially the Orang Asli, to succeed."

Teach For Malaysia’s expertise in recruiting, training, and supporting teachers complements Vantage Foundation’s mission to promote social mobility and inclusive education. Together, they aim to dismantle systemic barriers and empower the Orang Asli community.

Fam Li Ying, Director of Growth at Teach For Malaysia, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, "We are excited to work with Vantage Foundation to empower our children through education. Our joint efforts aim to ensure that all children in Malaysia have access to quality education."

A notable example of this initiative in action is Shawn Stanly, a teacher at a school in Banun. Shawn’s innovative teaching methods create an engaging learning environment where students can explore and develop a love for learning. His approach helps bridge the gap between students and new concepts, opening their minds to the world beyond their village. Reflecting on his experience, Shawn said, "It's not just a job; it's a calling," highlighting his dedication to educating Orang Asli communities.
