UTA, National Taiwan University Collaborate on Research

  • The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) has announced a collaboration with National Taiwan University (NTU) to establish a student exchange program and engage in joint faculty research endeavours, broadening academic opportunities for the UTA community.

This partnership stems from the strong bonds among faculty members at both institutions and the efforts of Ming-Han Li, dean of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs (CAPPA), who is an NTU alumnus. Li expressed great pride in facilitating this agreement and fostering future collaborations between the two universities.

Yu-Pin Lin, dean of NTU's College of Bioresources and Agriculture, echoed Li's sentiments, expressing his honour in enhancing collaborations between NTU and UTA. The agreement will facilitate collaborative research projects spanning various disciplines and open avenues for additional joint activities such as conferences, symposiums, and guest lectures.

UTA's Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Tamara L. Brown, emphasized the importance of such collaborations, highlighting the university's commitment to forging partnerships globally.

Through this collaboration, UTA students will have the opportunity to study abroad at NTU, enriching their academic experience and gaining valuable cross-cultural skills. Jay Horn, Executive Director of the Office of International Education, underscored the significance of this agreement in providing students with a chance to gain a global perspective and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.

Furthermore, the recruitment of Hongtei Eric Tseng, an NTU alumnus and distinguished university professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, marks an important milestone for UTA's Recruiting Innovative Scholars for Excellence initiative. Tseng, a member of the National Academy of Engineering with extensive experience in the automotive industry, represents UTA's commitment to attracting top-tier talent from around the world.
