The University of Sharjah emerged victorious in the 'University Debates Championship', hosted by the Federal Youth Authority, and witnessed much competition among 14 universities across the UAE.
In this intellectual competition, 56 young men and women participated in debates aimed at fostering knowledge and exchanging perspectives. The event attracted significant participation from young people and featured notable officials, including Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisationand and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs.
The debates centered on two key topics: 'Consumer Debt Enhances Purchasing Power', aimed at promoting financial literacy among youth, and 'Digital Media and National Identity'.
Minister of Human Resources praised the championship’s role in fostering analytical and objective thinking skills among young people, enabling them to build logical arguments based on data, facts, and unbiased research.
The Minister of State for Youth Affairs declared that the UAE is actually committed to empowering young people through all sectors in the country, hence providing a conducive environment wherein they can freely express themselves with evidence and logical reasoning. "This goes together with the general development goals of the country", he said, citing the University Debates Championship. "The step indeed signifies a significant stride in fostering an entire generation that is ready and equipped for constructive dialogue and meaningful participation.".
