Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, along with several university officials, participated in a working session with the Delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam in the Russian Federation. To elevate the educational cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation to new levels commensurate with the potential and requirements of both nations, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son and the Delegation Group from the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam embarked on a working trip to the Russian Federation from April 15th to April 20th, 2024.
During this trip, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son and the delegation held discussions with Mr. Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, visited several higher education institutions in Russia, and attended the Second Forum of Rectors of Vietnam - Russian Federation Universities. The year 2024 signifies the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the basic principles of friendly relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1994-2024). The two countries, Vietnam and Russia, have engaged in bilateral cooperation across various sectors, with education and training standing out as priority areas.
Currently, there exist over 100 cooperation agreements between Vietnamese and Russian universities. Collaboration extends to cooperative research activities, academic exchanges, as well as the organization of conferences, seminars, and exchanges of students and lecturers. Notably, the cooperation largely focuses on key industries of interest to Vietnam, which are also strong sectors in the Russian Federation.
In accordance with the Education Cooperation Agreement between the two nations, Vietnam allocates 75 slots annually for Russian citizens to study and practice Vietnamese. Moreover, over the past 5 years, Russia has annually awarded 1,000 scholarships to Vietnamese students, and for the 2024-2025 academic year, Russia plans to grant 1,000 scholarships to Vietnamese citizens for study and research purposes.
