The International Jury of the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development recently met at UNESCO headquarters in Paris to plan the launch of the prize’s eighth edition and review new nominations.
Ali Abdullah Alhaj Al Ali, the UAE's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, affirmed the UAE’s unwavering support for UNESCO's educational initiatives. He stressed that the UAE views education as crucial for sustainable development and social progress, highlighting their commitment to initiatives that improve education quality globally.
Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, emphasized the prize's mission to support, inspire, and enhance teacher performance and efficiency, aligning with the broader objective of universal education. He noted that the prize aims to recognize teachers who demonstrate exceptional teaching practices, thereby contributing to the improvement of global education standards.
The UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development was established in 2008 with the goal of enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which prioritizes education.
Supported by the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, the prize is awarded every two years. It offers a total of USD 300,000, divided equally among three winners whose projects aim to improve teacher performance and effectiveness worldwide. The winners are selected by an International Jury consisting of five distinguished professionals chosen for their extensive knowledge and experience in teacher-related issues.
