UNESCO and EEA Set to Co-Host 11th Education Meeting Webinar

  • UNESCO and the Equitable Education Alliance (EEA), co-chaired by the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok and the Equitable Education Fund of Thailand since its establishment in 2020, are pleased to announce they will be co-hosting the 11th EEA Meeting through an online webinar.

The upcoming meeting will focus on 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Equity in Education.' It will offer an opportunity to discuss the current landscape of AI applications in educational contexts. Additionally, the meeting will introduce relevant project implementations and explore potential trends, innovations, and opportunities for further research and development in this rapidly evolving field.

The EEA is a coalition of government agencies, civil society organizations, and private-sector education stakeholders dedicated to advocating for a more inclusive and equitable educational system in the Asia-Pacific region. It also aims to enhance the performance of existing equitable education organizations at all levels. The EEA holds four meetings annually to discuss and advance equity in education through collaborative efforts. A total of 19 countries and 23 local and international organizations have participated in these meetings, which facilitate the mutual sharing of expertise among members committed to promoting and fostering equity in education systems both locally and regionally.

The 11th EEA Meeting aims to illuminate the general landscape of AI applications in educational contexts, raising public awareness about the benefits and challenges of integrating AI into teaching and learning processes. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how AI can enhance student engagement, improve learning outcomes, and empower educators in their instructional practices. The meeting will introduce relevant project implementations and showcase selected case studies of AI in educational settings, providing practical strategies and evidence-based approaches for empowering diverse stakeholders through AI. Additionally, it seeks to inspire attendees to envision a future of education empowered by AI, exploring potential trends, innovations, and opportunities for further research and development in this rapidly evolving field.

The 11th EEA Meeting is set to attract a diverse array of participants, including representatives from national educational institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations dedicated to education, technology, and social impact. Education policymakers, administrators, educators, teachers, EdTech professionals, researchers, and academics with an interest in AI solutions for promoting equitable education, enhancing school performance, and optimizing learning outcomes are expected to attend.

Additionally, potential public audiences, including students and their parents, will seek insights into how AI can support their educational journey. EEA members, including representatives from member states, countries, organizations, practitioners, technical experts, and international agencies advocating for equitable education, will also be in attendance.
