The University of Indonesia (UI) has teamed up with the Pohang Iron and Steel Company (Posco) Group and Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech) from South Korea to advance the technology industry and enhance human resource management. The potential for collaboration was explored during Donghyun Ko's visit, to the Industry, Academy, and Research Manager of Posco Holdings, to the UI Campus in Depok.
Baiduri Widanarko, the Head of UI's International Affairs Office, highlighted that the forthcoming cooperation aims to foster a brighter future for education and industry in both Indonesia and South Korea. Posco, headquartered in Pohang, South Korea, ranks as the world's fourth-largest steel producer.
UI's Research and Development Director, Munawar Khalil, outlined the university's key responsibilities in research: managing internal research activities and facilitating collaborations nationally and internationally. Collaboration in industrial research is therefore highly anticipated.
Donghyun Ko emphasized Posco's need for cooperation to bolster research activities at Postech, a private university specializing in science and engineering. He underscored Indonesia's significance as a crucial partner and highlighted the potential for collaboration with UI.
The partnership aims to contribute significantly to Indonesia's industrial development, particularly in technology and human resource management. By jointly focusing on research and development in the industrial sector, UI, Posco, and Postech strive to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities in the Industry 4.0 era.
