UBD and CityUHK Strengthen Ties with New Academic Agreements

  • Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a student exchange agreement at UBD, solidifying their academic collaboration. The MoU was signed by UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr. Hazri bin Haji Kifle and CityUHK President Professor Freddy Boey, with senior management and staff from both institutions in attendance.

In May 2023, two universities initiated a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), emphasizing cooperation in technology transfer, commercialization, and business matchmaking via the HK Tech 300 Southeast Asia Startup Competition. This collaboration facilitated student enrollment in CityUHK's MSc Venture Creation program, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation education with the integration of industry-leading practices.

Under a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and student exchange agreement, both institutions have solidified their commitment to enhancing academic and research partnerships across various shared interests. Following the signing of these agreements, a delegation from CityUHK embarked on a campus tour, visiting several laboratory facilities to gain insights into ongoing research and educational initiatives.

During their visit, the delegation from CityUHK explored UBD's Botanical Research Centre under the guidance of Dr. Hussein Haji Taha, Director of the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research. CityUHK, recognized in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and THE World University Rankings 2024, holds positions among the top 62 and top 82 universities globally, respectively. In the latest QS and THE Asia University rankings, CityUHK also secured the 14th and 15th spots, reaffirming its standing as a leading institution in Asia.
