The Global Sustainable Development Congress 2024, organized in collaboration with Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, will take place from June 10-13 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. This event, attended by 3,000 individuals, aims to convene leaders and innovators from various sectors to address urgent sustainability challenges. Participants will be urged to align their educational, research, innovation, and outreach efforts with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and collaborate with businesses, governments, and charities to achieve tangible results.
Over 350 speakers, including notable figures like Pornphrom Vikitsreth, Nadjme Yusuf, Nik Nazmi bin Nik Ahmad, Senida Mesi, Hsien-Hsien Lei, and Pariphan Uthawaiya, will share their insights on sustainable development. Key events within the congress include the global sustainability leaders' summit, the international green skills summit, and THE’s DataLabs, focusing on sustainability in higher education.
The event will also feature the announcement of THE’s Impact Rankings 2024, which assesses universities' performance against the UN’s SDGs. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with global experts, thought leaders, and policymakers during networking sessions spanning over 15 hours. Case studies, best practices, and innovative strategies for sustainable development will be showcased, highlighting successful models and impactful projects.
The congress will revolve around six themes: Education, gender, and inequality; Health, well-being, and demography; Energy decarbonization and sustainable industry; Sustainable food, land, water, and oceans; Sustainable cities and communities; and Digital revolution for sustainable development. Emphasis will be placed on initiatives driving societal change through education, research, and innovation, providing attendees with insights into effective integration strategies for sustainability.
