TESDA introduces a vocational content creation course in the Philippines

  • TESDA, under the leadership of Secretary Suharto Mangudadatu, has introduced a course focused on content creation, recognizing the growing opportunities for online income. Mangudadatu emphasizes the need to provide content creators with essential skills to effectively communicate their messages and maintain the quality of materials posted on different platforms. Virtual networks and communities play a crucial role in connecting with audiences, establishing brand awareness, and enhancing engagement. However, Mangudadatu highlights that the success of these efforts depends significantly on the quality and pertinence of the shared content.

TESDA suggests that providing a content creation course can empower Filipinos to maximize online livelihood prospects utilizing easily accessible technology, often within the convenience of their homes. Mangudadatu encourages vocational training centers to incorporate content creation courses aligned with TESDA's competency standards, developed in collaboration with the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. The program encompasses the development of concepts for social media posts, the transformation of ideas into multimedia content, and the dissemination of content.

Mangudadatu expressed confidence in the talent and resourcefulness of many Filipinos, stating that with the appropriate skills, they can create content that resonates effectively with their audience, fosters meaningful connections, and ultimately makes a substantial contribution to society. TESDA, the governmental body mandated to oversee technical education and skills development (TESD) in the Philippines, was established through Republic Act 7796, commonly referred to as the "Technical Education and Skills Development Act of 1994".
