Sunway University Leads in Times Higher Education's Malaysia Rankings

  • Sunway University has been recognized as the top private university in Malaysia not linked to the government, marking a significant milestone in its ascent, particularly underscored by its strong performance in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.

    The 'THE Impact Rankings' assess universities worldwide in 125 countries, evaluating their achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This holistic evaluation combines scores across various SDGs, highlighting universities' commitment to sustainable development, societal impact, and academic achievement.

    Sunway University has demonstrated strong performance across four Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), achieving the top rank in Malaysia for SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). Additionally, the university secured third place in Malaysia for SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and sixth place for SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). These rankings underscore Sunway University's commitment to advancing sustainable practices and societal impact within Malaysia.

    Sunway University's recent recognition underscores its dedication to embedding sustainability throughout its core operations and academic curriculum, while nurturing a culture of innovation and responsibility among its faculty and students. The university's improved ranking highlights its intensified focus on key areas such as quality education, gender equality, clean energy, and collaborative partnerships aimed at achieving sustainable development goals.
