Sunway College Shines with Outstanding GCE A-Level Results and Awards

  • Sunway College has reaffirmed its dedication to academic excellence with its most recent GCE A-Level results, showing that more than 54.2% of students earned at least 3As. This accomplishment highlights Sunway College's status as Malaysia's top Cambridge provider.

Ruth Cheah, Director of the Sunway College GCE A-Level Programme, stated, “As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, it is clear that our focus on providing exceptional academic support and a nurturing environment continues to yield outstanding results. The success of our students reflects both their dedication and the steadfast commitment of our programme”.

In addition to these remarkable results, Sunway College proudly leads with the highest number of May 2024 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, having received 28 accolades for 26 students. This achievement underscores the institution’s continued success and commitment to its students.

Sunway College’s GCE A-Level programme caters to students from various backgrounds. One standout graduate, 28-year-old Ross James Farren, earned an impressive 3A* and 1A. Farren’s story is especially inspiring; he left school at 15 without formal qualifications but later pursued a degree in Professional Music. After eight years as a session guitarist and producer, he chose to return to education in response to the challenges posed by the 2020 pandemic.

“I applied to five colleges around Kuala Lumpur, and Sunway was the only one that accepted me. Ms. Ruth Cheah personally reviewed my application and decided to give me a chance. I couldn’t believe my luck when I received the email saying that I had been accepted,” Farren recounted. He commended the supportive staff at Sunway College—Ms. Sharon, Ms. Leong, Ms. Grace, and Mr. Derek—for their understanding and guidance throughout his studies. Farren also expressed gratitude to his wife for her steadfast support, noting that managing A-Levels alongside work and fatherhood was challenging but achievable with her help.

Farren encourages others to embrace change, stating, “It’s never too late to change your circumstances. By making small, positive decisions each day, you can gradually build a better future”. As the Sunway College GCE A-Level programme continues to set the benchmark for educational success in Malaysia, it remains dedicated to nurturing talent and transforming lives.
