The Japanese Government Scholarship (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) application for 2026 is now available for candidates who wish to study in Japanese Universities under the Undergraduate Students Program, National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), and Specialised Training Colleges programs.
The Undergraduate Students Program is made up of four-year bachelor's degree courses and one year of Japanese language training. Upon completion, students will be granted a bachelor's degree. National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) Students Program involves three years of associate degree course and one year of Japanese language study. The National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) teaches practical and professional engineering education following an integrated system, with general learning and specialist learning structured systemically.
Students Program of Specialized Training College is two years of associate certificate courses with one year of Japanese language training. Specialized Training Colleges are vocational training schools that offer courses in specialized disciplines at the higher education level.
The scholarship advantages are:
- Allowance: 117,000 yen (Approx. 68,800 INR) per month
- Education fee (for entrance exam, matriculation, tuition): Paid
- Traveling Expense: Round-trip airfare
Approximately 12 candidates are suggested for each program from India, but the number of intakes among other countries' candidates is determined by MEXT, Japan.
The deadline for application is 26 May 2025, and successful MEXT scholarship students will travel to Japan in April 2026.
