Students explore higher education opportunities in Brunei at the Study Fair

  • Hundreds of students attended the Findlay International Study Fair 2024 to explore opportunities for higher education abroad following the release of A and O level examination results. Approximately 600 students had pre-registered for the fair, which featured representatives from universities and colleges in Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US). Among the attendees was Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah. At the event, parents and students also engaged with government officials regarding scholarships and accreditation of university programs.

    Representatives from the British Council, StudyUK, Austrade's StudyAustralia, EducationUSA, and the Brunei-US Association were present to address inquiries regarding education and living in their respective countries. Attendees at the fair also engaged with Baiduri Bank representatives regarding education loans and student accounts. The Centre for British Teachers (CfBT) representatives were available to discuss English language proficiency tests. Additionally, students participated in Findlay's Morrisby Career Profiling psychometric assessment, which evaluates aptitudes, interests, and personality to suggest suitable career options. Findlay Managing Director Sunita Martin stated that their vision was to create a comprehensive experience where students can access information responsibly and transparently to make well-informed decisions.

    Conducting these fairs is a means of supporting our vision by ensuring that information is readily available to students and parents. Ambassador Ambra Dickie, the High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam, expressed, "We are delighted to participate in events like this, witnessing a rise in the number of students choosing to study in Canada." She emphasized Canada's top-ranking universities, affordability, and diversity, expressing the hope for an increased number of Bruneians pursuing education in Canada. Morgan Kimber, Political Officer at the British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam, conveyed excitement about Bruneians continuing to view the UK as a premier destination for studies, spanning disciplines such as research, law, business, and cultural exploration.
