Strathclyde unveils Innovation, Research, and Education Hub in Bahrain

  • The University of Strathclyde is set to expand its presence in Bahrain through a partnership with S-Eleven Educational, leading to the establishment of the University of Strathclyde, Bahrain. Leveraging its expertise in teaching, research, and innovation, Strathclyde aims to replicate its successful model of fostering economic development by creating innovative ecosystems that promote collaboration between industry, government, and academia.

    With a history of delivering MBA programs in Bahrain since 1995, Strathclyde plans to initially focus on education offerings in Engineering, Science, and Business in the capital city, Manama. Subsequent phases will concentrate on research and innovation initiatives. Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Strathclyde expressed enthusiasm for expanding operations in Bahrain, citing the university's reputation for excellence in education, research and innovation.

    The partnership aims to attract students primarily from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, with teaching scheduled to commence in September 2024. The educational and research facilities are expected to be state-of-the-art, and equipped with modern amenities including laboratories, libraries, lecture halls, and an innovation hub.

    Mr. Khaled Al Hammadi, CEO of S Eleven Investment Group, emphasized the significance of the partnership in elevating the educational landscape in Bahrain and the wider region to global standards. He highlighted the potential for the venture to not only enhance academic resources for students but also to attract international scholars and researchers, enriching the educational ecosystem.

    Overall, the collaboration between the University of Strathclyde and S Eleven Educational represents a substantial advancement in promoting education and fostering innovation in Bahrain, aligning with the university's commitment to extending its impact beyond its home country.
