Singapore's upGrad Institute forms a Steering Committee with Seven World Leaders

  • The government-approved Private Education Institution (PEI) in Singapore, upGrad Institute (UI), recently announced the addition of seven notable business figures to its Advisory Board. Arnoud De Meyer, a Former President of Singapore Management University, is going to act as Chairman. According to a press release, S Sadagopan, who chairs the council of Directors at IIITDM-Kancheepuram and is also the Founding Director of IIIT-Bangalore, is going to be joining him on the board.

    Additionally, the upGrad Institute has recruited business executives from a variety of backgrounds: The Chief of content for Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong at Warner Bros. Discovery, Magdalene Ew, has knowledge of international media and marketing. The viewpoints of Jeremy Williams, Managing Director of PropertyGuru Marketplaces, Laura Parsons, Vice President of Human Resources at BBC Studios, Larry Bradley, CEO of SolasAI, Inc., and Mohit Nayyar, Vice President of global skin and personal care at P&G, who generates specialization on responsible AI, as well as those of the property technology company in Southeast Asia, add to the discussion.

    The Advisory Board's intention is to swiftly implement upGrad's vision of developing a strong, government-approved educational institution that will equip the world's workforce with an experienced curriculum that is industry-ready and supported by top academic credentials. “The opportunity to provide job-ready education delivered flexibly and affordably through upGrad Institute’s proprietary content and accomplished faculty is exciting”, Arnoud De Meyer, Chair of the advisory board, upGrad Institute, stated.

    The institution has spent $5 million to launch and expand upGrad institution, and it is now accepting applications for its initial doctoral programs along with a few specified skill-building programs in management and data science with leading international universities. According to the statement, the initial batch is anticipated to start within the next 60 days.
