Sim Leisure Inspires Malaysian Youth through ESCAPE Greenie Program

  • Malaysian theme park developer, Sim Leisure Group Ltd (SLG), launched the ESCAPE Greenie Program, an expanded eco-literacy initiative for Malaysian primary school children. Introduced at ESCAPE Penang in 2019, this hands-on education program aims to cultivate a love for nature, encouraging children to actively protect and preserve the environment. Through DIY activities in the park, students engage in learning about nature, sustainable living, and environmental protection. The program, attracting 25,000 primary school students annually, seeks to enhance green awareness and foster a deeper connection with nature.

The ESCAPE Greenie Program is set to broaden its impact, reaching over 150,000 primary school children throughout Malaysia in the next three years. This expansion, inclusive of underprivileged and lower socio-economic backgrounds, will be facilitated through partnerships with sustainability-focused companies. Each park, beginning with ESCAPE Penang, will feature a dedicated Education Centre as an integral component of the program. The initiative will incorporate both in-classroom and outdoor learning experiences. Future ESCAPE Parks are also slated to adopt this educational enhancement.

Sim Leisure is committed to making the Greenie Program accessible to a wide range of Malaysian school children. The company will subsidize the program to offer a special rate, including lunch, for eligible primary school children across Malaysia. Sim Leisure is actively seeking corporate and funding partners for the Greenie Program to enhance its accessibility and affordability. Notably, A&W (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Etika Sdn Bhd, and RHB Bank Berhad have become the first corporate partners, formalized through a signing ceremony on February 7. The agreement involved Sim Leisure Group's Executive Chairman Datuk Sim Choo Kheng, A&W Malaysia CEO George Ang, Etika Group of Companies CEO Santharuban Thurai Sundaram, and RHB Islamic Bank Berhad Managing Director and CEO Datuk Adissadikin Ali.
