His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, officially opened the new campus of the American Community School of Abu Dhabi (ACS) situated on Saadiyat Island.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by notable figures including Her Excellency Martina Strong, the United States Ambassador to the UAE, and His Excellency Saif Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Minister of Education. Also present were Her Excellency Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, His Excellency Salem Alnuaimi, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Pension Fund and ACS Honorary Trustee, Monique Flickinger, ACS Superintendent, and Matt Ayoub, ACS Board Chair and Alumnus '94.
During the event, Sheikh Nahyan unveiled the official dedication plaque and involved Grade 4 and 5 student ambassadors in planting a Ghaf tree, symbolizing growth and sustainability, sourced from Sheikh Zayed’s Gardens in Al Ain. This event marks a significant moment in ACS's 51-year history, affirming its integral role in the UAE's educational landscape and acknowledging its lasting impact on the nation's development and cultural heritage.
Expressing his well wishes for ACS's continued success, Sheikh Nahyan emphasized its importance as a centre of learning and a beacon of educational excellence not only in the UAE but globally. He highlighted the school's embodiment of American educational values and praised the strong partnership between the United States and the UAE, underscoring their shared commitment to fostering friendly relations and cooperation.
Sheikh Nahyan commended the UAE's dedication to progress, peace, and prosperity under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He recognized the UAE's transformation into a leader in cultivating a knowledge-based economy and society, attributing its success to a robust education system. Sheikh Nahyan affirmed the country's commitment to building and sustaining a society grounded in education under Sheikh Mohamed's guidance.
