SenseTime and Mawhiba Foundation to Empower AI Talent in Saudi Arabia

  • SenseTime MEA, a prominent artificial intelligence (AI) software leader in a joint venture with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). The collaboration aims to support gifted students, boost their digital skills, and enable them to play a role in the future development of the Kingdom in the realm of AI.

This collaboration underscores SenseTime MEA's dedication to nurturing the AI skills of the upcoming generation, aiding local talents in cutting-edge technology sectors, and enhancing the capabilities of gifted students. SenseTime MEA aspires to expand their knowledge and provide insights into global perspectives in AI, empowering them to actively contribute to the achievement of Vision 2030 in the Kingdom.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formally agreed upon during the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity Exhibition "Ibdaa 2024," hosted at King Saud University in Riyadh. The collaboration spans various initiatives, notably the Artificial Intelligence program in Shanghai. This program aims to address the shortage of digital talent by offering training opportunities specifically for Mawhiba graduates. Additionally, SenseTime MEA and Mawhiba will work together to develop an enrichment program tailored for talented students, with a focus on AI. This collaboration aligns with Mawhiba's technology awareness initiatives, aiming to enhance understanding of advanced technologies such as AI and Metaverse.

SenseTime MEA, in collaboration with Mawhiba, will introduce an online training initiative to elevate the digital proficiency of Mawhiba students. Those who successfully complete the program will receive accredited certificates. Both parties will actively engage in identifying suitable candidates for various fields to participate in these training programs. Additionally, a technology awareness initiative is set to commence for Mawhiba students. This memorandum of understanding builds upon the ongoing partnership between SenseTime MEA and Mawhiba, which saw two individuals from Mawhiba sent to the SenseTime Shanghai lab the previous year.
