Seatrium Limited (Seatrium) and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) have forged a groundbreaking partnership aimed at revolutionizing industrial digital learning and fostering applied research collaboration. The focal point of this initiative is the creation of an advanced Digital Learning Lab at SIT's upcoming Punggol Campus, dedicated to advancing innovative maritime technologies.
This collaboration between Seatrium and SIT will center around three key areas: Digital Yard Technology, 5G Industrial Applications, and Smart Microgrid. Through shared knowledge, training programs, and collaborative research endeavours, both entities aim to tackle real-world challenges, such as enhancing energy efficiency in yard operations through AI and simulation models.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was formally signed by key representatives from both parties during the Singapore Maritime Week 2024, marking a significant milestone in their joint endeavours.
In addition to the establishment of the Digital Learning Lab, the partnership emphasizes a comprehensive approach to talent development within the marine and energy sectors. This includes facilitating exchanges for students and staff, fostering practical problem-solving experiences, and offering Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses to promote lifelong learning.
Furthermore, the partnership underscores a shared commitment to promoting energy transition and sustainability in Singapore. By bringing together researchers and industry experts, Seatrium and SIT aim to enhance digital capabilities and cultivate new skills essential for staying competitive in a rapidly evolving industry landscape.
Mr. Lim Shih Hsien, Executive Vice President at Seatrium, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting its potential to drive meaningful progress in industrial digital learning and research.
