Seatrium and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore have officially launched the ITE-Seatrium Digital Learning Lab, aimed at becoming a key educational and innovation center for the marine and offshore energy sectors. The lab is designed to offer an immersive and dynamic learning environment, where students can develop practical skills in energy and engineering, enhance their digital literacy, and engage in hands-on problem-solving experiences.
The curriculum includes specialized courses on topics such as Digital Yard Technology Applications, 5G Marine Use Cases, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. A highlight of the program is the integration of digital twin technologies, providing students with opportunities to solve real-world industry challenges in the classroom.
In conjunction with the lab's launch, Seatrium and ITE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that sets out plans for the next five years. These initiatives aim to expand educational opportunities in marine digital technologies for Higher Nitec students and Work-Study Diploma trainees, offer internship placements for students, and provide industry attachments both locally and internationally for staff development.
As part of their partnership, ITE will also offer certification courses to upskill Seatrium employees in emerging fields such as digital technologies, robotics, and sustainability. The partnership is expected to train up to 4,500 students by 2027.
Additionally, Seatrium has committed to a S$1.2 million donation over the next four years to the ITE Education Fund, which will benefit students from low-income families. This financial support will assist over 300 ITE students annually in Engineering and Electronics & Infocomm Technology programs.
