Saudi-Scottish University Partner for Research and Postgrad Programs

  • President of the Saudi Electronic University (SEU), Dr. Mohammed Mardi, has officially endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. The agreement aims to fortify collaboration in research and postgraduate programs, particularly through the establishment of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The partnership also involves the exchange of scientific and academic expertise, as well as support for student exchange programs.

Dr. Mardi emphasized that the MoU reflects the university's commitment to strengthening international ties with global educational institutions. This aligns with the university's strategic goals to share experiences that contribute to the advancement of academic, research and community-related fields, ensuring excellence, quality, and institutional efficiency.

This memorandum is part of SEU's delegation tour of several UK universities, focusing on discussions about enhancing partnerships, fostering international collaboration, and promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise at a global level.

The Saudi Electronic University, established by royal decree on October 8, 2011, offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees through a blended learning approach, combining online and traditional education. In July 2020, Lilac AlSafadi was appointed as the president of the Saudi Electronic University, making her the first female president of a Saudi university that accommodates students from both genders.

The University of Strathclyde, located in Glasgow, Scotland, is a public research university founded in 1796 as the Andersonian Institute. Receiving its royal charter in 1964 as the first technological university in the UK, it is Glasgow's second-oldest university. Named after the historic Kingdom of Strathclyde, the university is the third-largest in Scotland, welcoming students and staff from over 100 countries.
