The Saudi Heritage Commission and Arab Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization have inked a deal for collaborative training. This agreement, formed during the inaugural Alecso Forum for Business and Partnerships led by Saudi Arabia, involves the development of various training programs. These programs will focus on digital archiving, World Heritage file preparation, capacity-building, scientific lectures, field visits to Saudi Arabian World Heritage sites, and knowledge exchange sessions for young professionals in the field.
During the forum, 31 cooperation agreements were signed, encompassing 17 Arab countries and spanning various fields such as culture, science, the Arabic language, and sports. Notably, Alecso and the Arab Football Federation agreed to display player names in Arabic and translate football laws and terminology into Arabic. Additionally, Alecso forged partnerships with Saudi institutions, including an executive training program with the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and collaborations with the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Award for Translation, and the King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language.
The Saudi Heritage Commission plays a crucial role in promoting and safeguarding the heritage sector in the Kingdom. This involves formulating a sector strategy aligned with the National Strategy for Culture, presenting it for approval to the Ministry, and subsequently overseeing its implementation. Additionally, the commission is tasked with suggesting laws and regulations aimed at improving the operational landscape of the heritage sector.
