Saudi Arabia Culture Ministry Launches First College of Arts

  • As part of the collaboration agreement signed between the Ministry of Culture and King Saud University, the College of Arts has been established. In a strategic partnership with Riyadh's King Saud University, the Ministry of Culture has officially inaugurated the university's College of Arts, becoming the first institution in Saudi Arabia dedicated to arts education. The inauguration ceremony took place at the university's theater and was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture Hamed Fayez, University President Dr. Badran Al-Omar, and cultural and arts enthusiasts from across the Kingdom.

During his speech, Deputy Minister Fayez underscored the College of Arts as a tangible expression of Minister of Culture Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan's dedication to education. He emphasized the pivotal role education plays in cultural advancement and the growth of the cultural sector within the framework of Vision 2030. Fayez recalled the Minister's initial emphasis on 'education comes first' on his first day at the Ministry of Culture. Since then, they have collaborated tirelessly with the education and training ecosystem, developing programs and projects to enhance cultural capacities across various learning stages, from early education to supporting professionals in the workforce.

The inauguration of the college marks a significant stride in advancing higher cultural education within the Kingdom, poised to profoundly influence national cultural development. It seeks to forge a critical academic pathway for nurturing creative talents and fostering growth in the broader cultural sphere. This event is a key element of the Ministry of Culture's strategic collaboration with King Saud University, representing one of the initial outcomes of practical initiatives with local universities aligned with the goals of the National Culture Strategy and the Strategy for Developing Cultural Capabilities. The aim is to address workforce needs and provide the cultural professions with highly skilled individuals, steering the sector towards the attainment of ambitious national objectives. With its initial focus on three new departments: Design, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts  the college is just the initial phase of an ongoing cultural and scientific collaboration with King Saud University and other esteemed national institutions, according to Deputy Minister Fayez.
