Sargodha University Boosts Ties with China Through Education Partnerships

  • A delegation of 12 members, led by Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, has completed a successful visit to China aimed at enhancing collaboration and investment across multiple sectors, particularly in education, research, and technology. During the visit, the delegation held extensive discussions and explored potential projects of mutual interest with key officials including the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, and Party Secretary of Hebei Normal University, China.

    While visiting Beijing, the delegation convened with Tang International Education Group at their headquarters, resulting in pivotal agreements to enhance collaboration. These include initiatives such as supporting Chinese language teaching at the University of Sargodha, launching a joint degree program in Traditional Chinese Medicine, establishing joint Associate Degree Programs (2+1 model), and facilitating Chinese investment for establishing a Citrus Processing Unit.

    The delegation also attended a productive meeting with China Agriculture University in Beijing. The discussions were led by Dr. Qaisar Abbas and Prof. Dr. Sun Qixin, President of China Agriculture University, Prof. Dr. Xin Xian, Vice President of China Agriculture University. The meeting resulted in several key agreements including joint research projects, joint degree programs, the establishment of a research center, joint conferences, and the exchange of students and faculty.

    The meetings concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities, marking the beginning of a collaborative partnership focused on academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and other cooperative ventures. The delegation expressed optimism about future collaborations and the mutual benefits for both institutions. Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas also met with H.E. Mr. Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s ambassador to China, in Beijing. During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor briefed H.E. Ambassador Khalil Hashmi on the outcomes of their visit to China. The ambassador assured the delegation of his full support in implementing their initiatives with Chinese universities and institutions.
