Saif bin Zayed Inaugurates Rabdan Security and Defence Institute

  • Lieutenant General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, inaugurated the Rabdan Security and Defence Institute (RSDI) during the ISNR 2024 Conference. This institute is a specialized think tank dedicated to security and defence studies, launched as part of a strategic initiative by Rabdan Academy, a global leader in safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness, and crisis management.

The RSDI will provide analysis, research, and recommendations to policymakers on Middle Eastern defence and security issues. Its goal is to enhance understanding of regional security dynamics and identify potential threats, opportunities, and challenges. His Highness also participated in the Circles of Resilience initiative, the first youth dialogue platform in security and defence, led by Rabdan Academy. This initiative brings together experts to educate and empower youth in artificial intelligence, security technology, national defence, and other relevant areas of national security and resilience.

His Excellency James Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, stated that their vision is to promote peace, stability, and security in the Middle East and globally through comprehensive analysis, strategic policy recommendations, and engagement with global stakeholders, including policymakers, thought leaders, organizations, and experts. Morse highlighted that the RSDI is a unique model in the UAE, addressing defence and security issues often overlooked by other think tanks and producing distinctive outputs.

Morse also announced that the institute will begin its initial operational phase through a strategic partnership with the Middle East Institute in Washington, a prestigious research centre specializing in Middle Eastern and North African affairs. This collaboration will focus on defence and security, utilizing a network of senior researchers, academics, and experts worldwide. The centre will employ modern technical tools and methods to enhance scientific research development and management.
